Mechanist

A Mechanist is a type of pseudo-mage who uses enchanted items to do magic but has no actual ability of their own. Given the incredibly complex nature of some enchanted weapons, this can still make them quite powerful. The Ampthet Eight are an example of exceptionally dangerous Mechanists.

It should be noted not all Mechanists are completely incapable of innate magic, and some mages use a considerable number of enchanted items. There is no hard and fast rule, the term is mostly a derogatory aimed at anyone who relies on trinkets.
