An engine that uses a magnetic funnel to collect matter from the interstellar medium and compress it to fusionable pressures, then allow the exhaust to escape through a rocket nozzle, thus producing thrust.

The Bussard Ramjet is the chief cruising engine used by the Hawk-class escort fighter, with the Ion vacuum drive used for main acceleration and manuvers.
