The San-Gral, or San Grail, is a relic of the Mythical Age.

The Legend

According to various stories, the San-Gral was a chalice, or a box, or a bowl, or a wish-granting stone, or a set of sacred implements, from which might be drawn an endless supply of food and drink, or treasure, or universal medicine, or anything else one needed. Numerous heroes (including King Arthur and his followers) are said to have gone in search of it: either to bring it home (which they fail), or to heal some dying comrade (which they sometimes do), or to re-consecrate the Grail itself, or something else polluted by an act of sacrilege. To do any of those things, is to become considered the best of heroes.

The Reality

The truth, in the Course Books, is something else again.
