During the Age of the New Day, the Battle of the Last Stand became known as "the day hope died" or simply the "the death of hope". The colloquialism was first drawn by an epitaph inscribed by Jason Bur'I after the battle, and was popularized by folk songs all throughout the Long Night. By the era of the New Day, the actual name of the battle was seldom mentioned, but everyone knew 'the day hope died'.
