Gideon Rikart was Nathan Searlin's military commander, responsible for the ground defenses around High Tower. According to legend, the whole concept of using a traditional army in conjunction with a Mage Tower was his idea. Thus, he should accurately share credit with Nathan for starting the Mage Wars.
